This is a wonderful photo. Nice colours and composition. But what is the person holding in his hand?

I'm not sure about the amount of black on the right hand side... Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great shot with lovely colours, but I'm wondering if cropping the right hand side would add more to the photo...

Just shows to prove that the simpler the better....a simple picture with maximum impact...reminds me of Hiroji Kubota from Magnum :-)

 

 

This picture I feel is wonderfully composed! The person really puts the location into perspective, and the framing of the canyon walls I feel is dead on! I feel that cropping out the dark black of the framed walls would ruin the composition. I find it neccessary to keep them dark in order to keep the texture from cluttering the image! Perhaps a 1/2 stop higher exposure would lighten it enough to show just a little texture, but not so much to where it clutters the image! Again, this is an outstanding image certainly worthy of being enlarged, framed, and hung on anyones wall!

I like the photo for many of the same reasons as listed above, but I'd advise anyone to check out:

Beautiful, my friend. Without the human figure it's still a great moment that you've captured; with the figure, however, you've got a story. Congratulations. I look forward to more of your work.

I've hiked over a thousand miles in the Grand Canyon and I am always amazed at the different lighting and moods the canyon has to offer. At best the mood can be difficult to capture on film but I think you've done a wonderful job of doing just that. A very nice (different) treatment of a very over photographed subject. Bravo!

This is what POW is all about! I love the use of negative space. In fact, I once started a thread on photo.net about negative space asking if anyone had good examples, and this pic would've been perfect. Nice shot.

Excellent, but you should have told the person to drop the grey card.

I like this photo a great deal, mainly because it shows the Grand Canyon in blue rather than the orange and red tones we are all used to. Its a nice change.

Many times I look a photo and think about the composition, exposure, color balance, etc. This time, I was blown away by the image. Never had a chance to analyze. To me, that's a job well done. Thank You!

every photographer has his strengths and his shortcomings. One of my shortcomings has been landscape/outdoor pictures. I do a lot of hiking and always have; I love the outdoors. This is precisely the sort of picture I'd like to take and yet never seem to get quite right. I am very, very impressed and admiring.

Now we're talking POW :-) This picture just seems to go on for ever. I like the framing and the blues from the airial perspective. Very nice.

Very pleasing. If I have to pick on something, then its that there seems to be a little too much black on the right side. The current black area reduced by 1/3rd would be probably be ideal.

I love the blue too, makes me really wish the weather would clear up around here... its been grey skies too long
