jeremy freeland 0 Posted November 13, 2005 I like the composition and arrangement here - the rocks tell an interesting story. I do think the highlights maybe too strong - not necessarily blown, but too bright to make the image enjoyable for me to look at. Best, Jeremy Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted November 13, 2005 Jeremy, what kind of monitor are you using? The highlights aren't that strong on my screen, and less so in print. Link to comment
jeremy freeland 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Could be my monitor - it's a high-end widescreen laptop screen, so not the ideal means of looking, but not altogether bad. I've attached a version which looks less bright on my monitor. If it looks appallingly dark on yours, then we'll know it's my machine, and you can disregard all future highlight comments that I make (I probably shan't make any). Hope this helps. AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted November 15, 2005 I find that LCD's in general contract tonal range for contrast. Yours doesn't look half bad, and in the uncontrolled workspace of the internet looks more like what I see in Adobe and in print (I use a custom BW profile which does not get carried along in "Save for Web"). Having said that, your version does tend to flatten things which is why I think it looks better to you, on your screen, as compared to my CRT. I looked at this on my sisters Dell LCD and had excatly the same reaction as you. What's a BW photographer supposed to do??? Link to comment

wieslaw1 0 Posted February 24, 2007 I do not have a reference scale. How big or tiny are these rocks/stones? Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted February 24, 2007 There are a couple of clues, but the main formation is about waist high. Link to comment
