javedrassi 3 Posted October 31, 2005 I like what you did here, makes it a good artistic portrait. Suggestion, keep it in a single tone but this works too. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted October 31, 2005 Thanks a lot Javed, I cherish your comments. I thought of posting a b/w, but finally decided against it after looking at a b/w version :-) But I agree that in b/w it would highlight the expression more strongly. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted November 1, 2005 It is most interesting and amusing to see such a spread spectrum of ratings on this photograph (as with most others I suppose). Would anyone care to comment on why this deserved a 3/4 in his/her opinion? I'm perfectly comfortable listening to (even scathing) criticism and advice/suggestions, in fact I cherish the various perspectives offered. Link to comment
javedrassi 3 Posted November 1, 2005 Debasish, People are unfair when it comes to ratings , perhaps envious cause they cant creat like what you did here. I think this photo deserve much higher rating than 3. Anyone who can creat something out of nothing, deserve much more. so I give it 6/7. Thanks for you kind comments on my gallery. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted November 1, 2005 I apologize I had to leave my office before I saw your post Javed. I agree about the unfair ratings, which I've noticed for a long time now. But it is not about the low ratings that matters to me; I am sure there are some people whose sensibilities differ substantially from mine, and it is possible that some from this set of people provide the 3/4 ratings. I'ld love to know their perspective, nothing more. Personally I learnt a lot from the low ratings people put on my earlier photographs and I chased them for explanations, which most of them provided very generously, and it helped me improve. Thank you for visiting. And it was my pleasure and honor studying your portfolio. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted November 1, 2005 Deb, I was thinking this image might look better in a single tone as well. But as you have tried it and were happier with what you have, that's fine with me. I like the overall effect very much. The ratings, the ratings, the ratings...I have stopped submitting my images for ratings and critique and have settled for the latter. I may decide one day to go back to both. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Thanks so much for the comment. I'll go back to the monochrome again and check. The ratings don't matter so much as the perspectives of the people who rate, nothing more. But I've not been able to spend too much time either, so I guess it is okay. Link to comment
roshni_abee 0 Posted November 8, 2005 very cool idea! if it were a bit sharper and less pixeliated it would be even better...but, nonetheless, this is a neat photo! Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted November 8, 2005 I'm glad you like it... Perhaps shold have removed the emerald green altogether, but I somewhat possessive over the texture that it provides :-) Link to comment
