daryl walter 0 Posted October 31, 2005 I liked the combination of backlighting, quite soft shadows, and the form of this plant. Two RAW exposures were combined to make sure the backlit edges and shadow detail were both visible. I also edited out the small areas of background details that were showing through the gaps. (Conversion to monochrome in Photoshop Elements). Let me know what you think. Link to comment
dguindon 0 Posted November 1, 2005 What great photo, I sure like your vision in seeing it all the way through like that. One of the very few B&W I like, good job. Link to comment
daryl walter 0 Posted November 1, 2005 Thanks for looking and commenting guys - appreciate the positive feedback. Hey Don, glad to see you like it even in B&W :) I'm pretty happy with this shot in the sense that I'm pretty happy with just about everything about it. Perhaps (as some of the ratings reflect) not entirely original and I will admit to seeing a photo of a similar plant by Jo Cornish which made me think about this shot. Link to comment
dguindon 0 Posted November 1, 2005 I would be proud hang this up and call it my own. Those ratings come from huge "library" of memories, pretty tough to find original. But...I have figured out how to finally to receive a 7 for originality. Set your timer, strip naked, run around in a field in a thunderstorm with a lightening rod and photograph yourself getting zapped...that ought a do er'. Link to comment
daryl walter 0 Posted November 3, 2005 :) I'm not even sure that'd work Don, there seem to be a lot of naked people doing weird stuff on this site already! Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted January 13, 2006 This is a stunning piece of work, Daryl. The leaves are almost tangible; I feel like I could touch them. The tonality is perfect, as is the comp. Link to comment
daryl walter 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Thanks Mark - this is one of my favourite photos so I tend to agree with you :o) Link to comment
