photo 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Do you rememer this athelete? I took this pic many years ago at Gateshead Stadium.I don't remember the camera or lens but I do know It made me some money at the time. I'll give you a clue - She was South African but ran for England and without shoes. Link to comment
thomas_turk 0 Posted October 24, 2005 OK for the record. As far as for a photograph, she is frozen in mid air. A panned photo would have made it dynamic. Whites are overexposed by at least one stop. Shadow detail on the ground would have given interest. Blurred background from panning would have added dimension. I have seen Kipchoge Keino, in Nairobi, in his heyday, run a barefoot sub-4- minute mile Link to comment
photo 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Thomas thak you for your comment. In those days we did not do panned shots for magazines and newspapers we used fast shutter speeds and froze the action.Bear in mind this was a from a print I found to day lying in a drawer in my house. It was posted for historical reasons and not for photographic excellence.I have searched for some of your masterpieces but failed to find any. Do you have any in order that we can look and learn. I doubt it. Link to comment

r_puterbaugh 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Some of Tom Turk's masterpieces can be found at this link. http://tomturkphoto.tripod.com To bad you can't leave him a few comments on that site. But since he is a master, he probably wouldn't want our opinions anyway. Link to comment

stevespencer 0 Posted October 25, 2005 Your photo is fine piece of photojournalism history, and thank you for sharing it with us. I love my digitals, but I also miss shooting b&w film and working in the darkroom to produce the final prints. You found the TT masterpieces too, I see. We can't all confer with the masters like the jet set does. Isn't it awe inspiring to have been graced with the the countenance of greatness? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. -s ***Joe Russo Lives*** Link to comment
reighamsyde 0 Posted October 26, 2005 What a classic photograph Danny.(one you should be proud of. Regarding that imbocile Thomas Birk (I mean Turk) all I can say is,I have had a look at his classic shots (all 5 of them)and (we all could take better pictures useing a through away camera.or a hose pipe The trouble with this Joker is, jealousy, as he can not for the life of himself take decent pictures ,he has to try to be the big time critic. He must know he is a joke as he is to embarrased to put his shutter where him mouth is and stand up to be counted.I have about 630 photos on the site, and I will say it is a great high class site with (in my mind ,high class photographers).Danny you could blinfold yourself and be better than this Joke anytime (and everyone knows it ) Keep all you new (and old ones coming Danny ,it is the likes of you that make the site and Birk (i mean Turk) that gives us all a right laugh.
