ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted November 30, 2001 Very nice Dave. Think I might have taken the dark section off the bottom. All in all, very nice Link to comment
dave_flanagan 0 Posted December 13, 2001 I took this on 35 mm when I ran out of 120 slide film. One comment suggested that I leave out the dark area at the bottom. Do you think I should have cropped it, or chosen a different shadow when I wrote the curves? Thanks,Dave Link to comment
judyh 0 Posted December 13, 2001 I think the dark area at the bottom is essential for anchoring the picture. If you were to crop it out you would lose too much foreground and the picture would be much less interesting. The colors are a bit odd--greenish and lavender--but not necessarily displeasing. dennismk 0 Posted December 13, 2001 Just thought I would play with this image a bit and try what I might do with it if it were mine. My feelings on Dave's shot ran like this. Ah! wish I was there again (Big Sur). Nice shot but not a great shot. Why? to much to look at maybe. The dark area does anchor, but is it needed? Take the image down to its basic's. Try to get away from the postcard shot. How do we make a image that moves us? Each of us is differnt and must find one's own way of "seeing". Attached is a croped verison and work a bit in PS but staying with the basic tones at least on my computer. I am not saying it is better, because my image of it does not capture the fullness of the scene, which I think David tried to do. But for me it does not go beyound a good composed snap shot. With all respect. Link to comment
