As a beginner, I wouldn't take anything away from these pictures. From what I understand, Al Kaplan is a long time photographer. These pictures are taken for pure pleasure of the photographer. You'll notice his right hand is always out of the picture (holding the camera).

Your nothing in photography if you cant produce a good serries of images that all relate well to each other - unless maybe your ambition is stock photography or winning prizes...
