mike_sea 0 Posted October 21, 2005 If this was a shot of the lamp post then the building distracts my eye and likewise, if it was a shot of the building then the opposite is true. I can only say this scene has potential but thats about it. Mike Sea Link to comment
dilip_kumar_singha 0 Posted October 23, 2005 Thank you both David and Mike for your valuable comments which will definitely give me more insight. After all we may have some limitation or other to unerstand. Probably this is the process of continuous improvement. Link to comment
Tuhin 2 Posted November 4, 2005 Hello Dilipda/ Dilipbabu :) - the front lamp post is a visual obstruction ; if I remove it , the picture turns better , use polarising filters to get better exposures of the sky . Link to comment
dilip_kumar_singha 0 Posted November 4, 2005 "Johnny", thank you very much for your comment and complement. Please visit me again. "Dear Tuhin", I am having absolutely no problem if you call me "Dilipda". You are one of my favourite photographers. To day I am very glad that you have commented on my photograph. See, the subject of my photograph is the beautiful old fashioned lamp posts of Panaji. But, another spectacular historic building (The Old Secretariat building)is visible at the back. If I remove the front lamp post from my photograph, do you not think that the building will get prominance and the photograph will grossly deviate from the subject I want to project? Alredy "Mike" has complained that, the building is distracting his eyes. Anyway, right now it is not possible to go back to Panaji and take another shot as you advised. But, I have another slightly different photograph which is shown here. I will be glad to know your opinion in the perspective that we are now discussing. Thank you very much for your advice to use polarising filter for the sky. I will definitely try that in near possible opportunity. Please visit me again and offer your comment. Link to comment
Tuhin 2 Posted November 4, 2005 Dilipda - if ur objective is to photograph the old lamp post then dof should have been very narrow blurring out the building in the background ; here is not that case . The picture you have posted is better though I feel the lamp post should be cloned ( pl learn that tool ) ; all these shots would look far better if captured in a wider perspective , vivitar series 1 19-35mm is a very good cheap option . I do not know how you are scanning , whether you are scanning from print or negative ( or the brand of scanner you are using , studio / self ) , your scans are far better now than previously you posted . These are just my feelings and never take my feedback as advice .. Rgds Link to comment
