thomas_turk 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Good background. Boring composition, camera position, perspective, lighting. Strictly a catalogue shot of the latest M7 Lada with 19" Zonta Mag wheels, shot, as you see, from the right side, and...facing the showroom door. Do I see a reflection..Ahh, now that may have made a photo..see photos4u.dk for some ideas on car photos. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 24, 2005 Oh dear, Thomas, I'll take you are kidding. If you aren't, go to the showroom and replicate this shot. Shoot it from the door and try to get no reflections on the car - and you know why classic car portraitry is not at all straightforward and dull, and you understand why photogs like Rene Staud are the most highest paid photogs in the whole of photo business. The classic car "glamour" photography is extremely difficult and technical genre. It is much more time consuming than shooting people. It is all about details of light, details of light and details of light - endlessly. This shot is close to perfection in its own genre. Especially the tonal range is spot on. I still find the focal length too short. I am not sure the crop made it any better. The first one was good, so is this. And Thomas, if you want to have a reflection on the side of the car, well, try this: try to make a beautiful horizon lining perfectly with the car lines and get a soft geometry amplifying ambient light.
