Road Across Flaming Gorge Dam

You wouldn't tell when looking at my portfolio but shooting man made stuff doesn't come to me too easily. Problem is, I live in a city and I don't own a car so I have to shoot what's around me. After a while you may even develop a taste for it you know... even the ugliest places have some beauty hidden in them and you can find it if you look hard enough, as you demonstrated here.

Andre, I can't imagine not having a vehicle to get around in...makes me shudder. Of course, places are pretty far apart out here. I think you do very well for being stuck in the city!

You shot this just in time to catch some great rays to outline the structure and what a great mix of textures in this image: great rock cliffs and smooth asphalt. All of this leaves the background mysteriously dark, good one !

Great shot Kim! I've been on that road many times, but I did'nt relize that it was that scary :). Going down to the Green river and shooting the dam is pretty awesome too. Great capture.

Well, unfortunately the speed limit is 20 mph, and there are always cops watching, so you couldn't have too much fun, but there are plenty of great curves everywhere else on this mountain. They seem to watch the dam pretty close since 911. Thanks for looking!

this is a really nice shot. i can't make up my mind if i like it because i like looking at it, or because i'd like to be there...as, being there, and then having the image to relive being there is what it's all about for me. you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth...but i'll bet you know that.

Great composition and lighting in this shot. The DOF is great too the way the roard pinches off around the corner. As well as the Contrast of the colors between the far right and the rest of the scene. Everything flows so well. Your eyes can't help but be lead in.

And to think I was disappointed that day because I couldn't find any good flowers to photograph...thank you!
