paul_chilton2 0 Posted October 12, 2005 Mark, is the vignetting on this image deliberate? For me the soft, subtle tones of this image are spoiled by the intrusive shadows in the corners. Regards - Paul Chilton. Link to comment
canoe guide 0 Posted October 12, 2005 paul - the vignetting is deliberate - all of the photographs in my square thinking (ku) folder have the appearance of toy-camera/holga photographs. this photograph is part of my Adirondack Dream Memories series. Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted October 12, 2005 Must stop by here more often, can't beat a lovely bit of drizzle. Great atmosphere, and the touch of yellow in the distance is a nice extra, and matches the shape of the dam quite well, too. Have to say, I semi agree with Paul, but only in that the right corners are a lot darker than the left ones. I don't think it destroys the composition, but it does seem to distract slightly from the atmosphere. The vignetting works well in drawing the eye towards the dam, and seems to work in tandom with the flow of the river in taking the eye into the background and resting on the mountains.
