mikesoliman 0 Posted October 10, 2005 This was taken on my first trip out to Yosemite. A grouse just happened to be hanging out at Glacier Point oblivious to the throngs of people there. I just followed it around until I found a good background for it. Link to comment
hantsoo 0 Posted October 10, 2005 If you could get a deep focus lens, it would be neat to see how the shot looked with Half Dome in sharp relief. Otherwise, I like this one. (PS I have a few photos of Yosemite myself in my "California" portfolio.) Link to comment
spike 0 Posted October 10, 2005 In a way the grouse looking into the photo does draw us in, but I'd like to see the birds face rather than like this. As the previous comment said a sharper dome (more DOF) would be nive or even way less, as it is it's blurry but not aesthetically so. Link to comment
kleintje 0 Posted October 10, 2005 I like the sense of depth created with the background behind the bird, but I would take away a large part of the top because this takes away the attention from your subject too much since it is not completely in focus. Link to comment
mikesoliman 0 Posted October 10, 2005 Thanks for the feedback everyone! I was pretty preoccupied following the bird around while trying not to scare it. There were also a bunch of kids chasing after it. This photo was the last of a set of exposures I made. I really did hope that it would face me, but it never did. If I'm ever in this situation again, I'll be sure to try a wider DOF. Thanks again! Link to comment
