keith_jorgensen 0 Posted November 29, 2001 Extremely nice composition (that "S" curve takes the viewer right into the picture,)technically well done and those dynamic colors really provide impact. Very original. Link to comment
chris_browne 0 Posted November 29, 2001 Wow, great light, colour and composition! I wonder if a 1/2 stop or so more exposure would have allowed the bird to stand out more from the shadows on the river? Good work! Link to comment
sandcruiser 0 Posted November 29, 2001 beautiful color- the bird really makes the shot for me. Link to comment
darin_mccauley 0 Posted November 30, 2001 Beautiful colors. The bird really makes it a scene though...instead of an abstract. Link to comment
garyprzy 0 Posted December 1, 2001 Thank you for your comments. Keith's comments about the S curve jarred my memory as to what I used to call this image- Z. It's complementary image is backwards as someone noticed. In regards to exposure, the image is exposed well, I bracketed, but I have elected to leave the image a little darker to emphasis the abstract nature. When I took this I really didn't care too much about the bird but it does add some reality to the image. Personally, I like its complementary image as much as this one but the critics don't seem to agree. Link to comment
geoffeldridge 0 Posted December 3, 2001 a great sun[set|rise]. the colours are striking and I like the abstract nature of the composition. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted December 10, 2001 A great image. Leave it dark was a good idea, I believe. Besides that, in many aspects, I prefer this one to the other one: the brightest part is more powerful here, the bird is an advantage, and the composition is stronger... The other shot is far more peaceful: I like the tourmented nature of this one... Congratulations anyway for both... Link to comment
yuriy y. vilin 0 Posted December 24, 2001 I wonder when we see this as POW. Beautiful image! Link to comment
javedrassi 3 Posted May 22, 2002 This is a beautiful image gary. Did you use any filters? the color saturation is wonderful. Link to comment
stefan lubomirski de vaux 0 Posted May 23, 2002 This is great. Its graphic, the colours are strong and in a restricted palette, sea and sky blend and the bird could not be better placed. The stillness of the evening is caught in the pam of your hand. It makes me want a Hasselblad as well! Link to comment
garyprzy 0 Posted May 28, 2002 No filters involved. I did play a little with the lightness and brightness in Paintshop Pro but only slightly. I had bracketed a few of these and this one was on the money. The film was Velvia- what else could saturate like that? Link to comment
