"Did you ever have to make up your mind?"

LenMarriott

Old, old, old, Minolta Autocord. Tech details lost in antiquity. In fact, so old, who cares? Probably 1/30 f3.5.

This is one of those shots that we see only once in a while. You captured that "infinite instant" that I talk about on my most recent forum post on Philosophy. In every event taking place there are only a few "photograms" that define it and give it the power to communicate feelings and you caught one!

Antonio, Thanks for your views & observations. They shed light into corners I've not consciously explored before. Best, LM.

a gem... the moment, the expression... the illumination on his face... the tension, enhanced by the presence of the other player in dramatic high contrast of light and shadow... a wonderful composition, comprehensively

Thanks for going the extra mile to dig out this oldie for comment Haven't looked at it for a while myself but it is one of my favourites.  It was taken in an army barracks in Montreal in the very early '60's.  One of my early attempts at candid, low light photography.  I believe this was scanned from an 8'x10" photo.  Perhaps I should dig out the negative and run it through my V500 scanner to see if I can't get a little better detail in the highlights.  Stay tuned.  Best, LM.

Does the fact that he is now probably in his 70's change the dynamic for you? :-)  No money at stake.  In fact, that's why everyone was sitting around playing cards:  No jingle!  Or they'd be out chasing those good looking Montreal girls.  And payday at least a week away!  Thanks for taking the time to dig this one out for viewing & comment.  Nice to know someone else thinks it's good enough to ponder.  Best, LM.
