Temple Altar (Ward 35, Beauty Camera Co., ca. 1954)
The altar in a local temple in Zhong He, a suburb of Taipei. Smoldering incense, lillies, grapes and durian fruit. A common sight in Taiwan, but I like the mix of bright colors in the temples. Camera: Ward 35 (Japanese viewfinder camera made about 1954 by the Beauty Camera Company, same as Beauty 35) This camera has a front-element-focusing 4-element lens (says so in the user manual), which I believe makes it similar in design to the Voigtlander Skopar on my Vito II. It has no rangefinder, so focusing takes some guesswork. I was surprised this photo was as sharp as it is. ASA 400 print film. hand-held. Contrast adjusted with Photoshop.
