A very dear friend kindly agreed to pose for me sometime back; this is

one from the session. Please try to leave your thoughts behind.

i like the color tone your gave this image. The empty space in the image adds to the sullen mood of your model. Well done.

I'm indebted to you for the time you have taken, and delighted. Let me try to explain my views.

Firstly regarding the toning: The expression is not so intense to motivate me to do a high-contrast; I see her in a reserved and demure zone of grief---sort of melancholic but completely distant, removed, from her sensory world. I see an undertone of chaos in her mind, which is pregnant with possibilities, hence I lent a green tone.

Secondly about the cropping: Perhaps I am more in agreement with you... However, what motivated me to keep the space is that the isolation depicted is perhaps accentuated by this larger expanse around her.

I'ld love to know your views on this. I'll try to post a few more of her portraits in future; I just posted another version of this shot too.

This image is a classic example of how 2 people interpret an image and what they in it.

I duly acknowledge you perspective of the image and how you avoided the deep contrast to bring out her demure appearance.. Your model photographs well and the same chaos and melancholy is something that even I found appealing , yet I wanted that image to have more contrast and depth.. May be the saturation was in some ways to create that depth. And as far as the crop is concerned I understand your usage of space to convey an extended emptiness.. But I tend to go for closer cropping even within the extended space only to bring out the tonal variation in the face.

All said and done .. photography is a an art of technical objectivity and subject interpretations..

Hope You dint mind my toying around with your image

I came over to check out your work after you were kind enough to leave a couple of comments on my recent pictures. I notice you also take a lot of street photos and I'll go through them and give you my feelings when I have a little more time. I was struck by this photo of the pensive young lady. It has a wonderful delicacy as she emerges from the darkness of her flowing hair and the beautifully modulated space to her right serves to highlight the fine lines of her face. You've done a couple of other pictures that look like line drawings where you picked out only the necessary features of your model's face. I thought these also were well done. It is with this delicacy of line that I am most impressed. Regards, Jack

Jack, my browsing through your work was not a ``kindness'' but a pleasure. I'll have to return with more time in my hands. I'm happy you like this picture; for me this is my choice from the portraits put up on this site :-)

Best regards.
