The bright red streak on the right is Mars. One of the first few star tails type shots with a D70s. 4 minutes EX.

So how did I do? One of my first Star trails done with a digital

SLR. Mars was out and very bright, as I was out in the Sun Valley

area of Idaho. I used the electronic cable release. This was a 4 sec

exposer at f/4 with the 50mm 1.8 lens.

Thanks John Baker for the comments. I owe it to the cable, tripod and NO WIND. It was a glorious night, here in the hills of Idaho. It was awesome to experience a sky full of stars and the brightness of Mars.
