root 0 Posted September 27, 2005 I was rethinking the title. Maybe "Splat" because there could be a point of impact implied in the upper right corner with the remnants scattered down and to the left. Galina, you should tell me why you think the aesthetics are merely "OK". :-) While the light brown lines are not "pretty" per se, I think the presentation of the idea photographically works pretty well, if I may say so. salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 28, 2005 It reminds be of that time I did not empty the fridge, French-cheese sector, before a long holiday. You photoshopped the greens into reds, didn't you? I like the textures of the reds, in shapes and in the tiny details, although the saturation prevents from concentrating on the latter. The contrast between bubbly shapes and linear forms is interesting. Mostly as the red stuff seems to have just grown while the golden one seems to have been sprayed on. So, a slow-motion versus an one-off impact. Link to comment
root 0 Posted September 28, 2005 The colors are real. Some dodging and burning to even out the background pattern. This is a gourd, slightly smaller than a basketball. The growth pattern is similar to what you see on pumpkins. Don't know how it's formed. Link to comment
root 0 Posted September 28, 2005 No, I shot it (before it ate me!) Gourds are decorative. Part of the season's festivities. (Pumpkins are edible, but only the pulp inside, not the outer skin.) Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 28, 2005 I see. In some parts of Switzerland, France and Germany you also have some decorative ones (mostly green/orange/yellow) of funny shapes, slightly later in the year. On a non-photographic footing, you should try the flowers of the pumpkin (or -better- zucchini). If you can get hold of some, next season, e-mail me for the recipe! Link to comment
