glenn traver 0 Posted September 25, 2005 would have missed this one if I had not visted this section of the TRP, instead of the default TRP, even though you submitted it for critique it does not show up on the default page, if your wondering why ,this thread may be helpful http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00DeJW ~Congrats on a wonderful capture ~ GT Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks to all of you - Jana, Amal, Richard, Vi, Amar, Jiri, Glenn, Julio! I do appreciate your kind comments. Amar, I thought so too! Glenn, yes I was mildly puzzled by it not showing up in the default TRP but the rules are so complex now I gave up trying to follow them some time ago. And while my kind friends Ben and Amal were prevented from giving it a 7, I think Brian and his colleagues do a pretty good job to keep the worst daftnesses of PN at bay. I guess that although it got 5 anonymous qualifying ratings at least one must have been from its category queue. Straightforward really! - and a small price to pay to keep the system manipulators in check. Link to comment
tim_hardy 0 Posted September 25, 2005 It's a cracking shot, even with the imperfections and really captures the atmosphere of the place. First time I visited this place it rained stair rods ALL day. Link to comment
camilla 5 Posted September 26, 2005 Spectacular view! Strange but pleasing colours. One of your best so far, I think! Again that "painting-quality" that I have mentioned before when commenting on your photos. Link to comment
kristin_morales 0 Posted September 26, 2005 This is true artisty...I absolutely love the mixed color and desaturation...and even more impressed that you thought of this composite. A real conversation piece for sure...lots of fun quirky details. Congrats on such an original work! Link to comment

zach_goldman 0 Posted September 27, 2005 Hey, I've been only a few places out of the states, but I can say that I've been there. Did you go on the Coast to Coast hike as well? Did you like it? I think you really captured Robin Hoods Bay well. You captured the sea-faring nature of the town and the layout of the picture are very nice. Congrats, Zach Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted September 27, 2005 This somewhat busy photo really holds my attention. Interesting POV, sky and subject. Well done. Link to comment
dens 4 Posted September 27, 2005 Another interesting shot, Colin. I like the old shot by "Frank Meadow Sutcliffe" interesting side line. There is such interest in the shot. I think it would look good on my wall ...:) Link to comment
mbalzan 0 Posted September 27, 2005 You have created a stunning British ambience. Exceptional. Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted September 27, 2005 A boat trailer? Well... guess that makes more sense, given the boats and all... [walks away with sad face, sigh]. Link to comment
photos of hans koot 0 Posted September 27, 2005 unusual atmosphere you created in this, making it a monochrome style, like it very much. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted September 28, 2005 Thanks for all your kind comments! Tim, it must rain there a lot by the sounds of it! Camilla, yes I was aiming for a 'painted' look to this one. Zach, no I didn't do the hike, wife and child would object! Stephen, sadly not a lawnmower! Link to comment
oofoto 0 Posted September 30, 2005 Colin, this is a great image. The colours give a very timeless appeal and the wet day adds much atmosphere due to the wet surfaces. I think the work you are producing with "that" lens is outstanding. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted September 30, 2005 Colin, I thought this was a painting when I first saw it. Beautifully captured. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted October 1, 2005 I love this for many reasons...the fish eye effect, the color tone, the slice of life, the mood. Really effective work, here. Link to comment
Sandeha Lynch 5 Posted October 3, 2005 Colin, if you're short of Christmas presents this year you should try to get a jigsaw made of this one. It would immortalise the image, and provide hours (days?) of suitable frustration. Ace work. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted October 4, 2005 Thanks Dimitris! Thanks Sandeha - a puzzle eh? Nice idea. I seem to remember a quite difficult jigsaw puzzle from my youth which when turned over became a fiendish puzzle of the inside of the dome of St Pauls - all the same colours and repeating designs. I think this could be in the same category! Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted October 10, 2005 I honestly thought this is a painting Colin, untill I read the story. You've done an amazing job here. The image is more than wonderful! Link to comment
