Mount Baker and Patos Lighthouse

Mount Baker between Seattle and Vancouver.

Peter, I just love this photo. It looks like an oil painting. Is that a barge or boat in the center? It's just a wee bit distracting, but my eye is initially drawn to the light house, then mountain.

Unforced intensity!

Looks like a small tour boat with more than a dozen people seated in the open air.

Doesn't look seaworthy enough for open sea, but this is sheltered water between the San Juan islands on the border between Washington and Canada.

I have a weakness for lighthouses so almost each picture with a lighthouse has my interest.

 

But this picture is really amazing. The bright colours and shapes of the lighthouse stands out wonderful against the transparancy soft blue of the enormous mountain which top appears up out of the fog at the vague horizon.

IMO the 'boat' isn't a distraction. In the contrary, the silvery tones of it are a sweet addition to this moodful, almost serene composition. Very well done! I love it! Cheers, Ada.
