Pentax KM. 50mm f/1.7 lens, 1/30 at full aperture so the moon would stay circular rather than take on the shape of the diaphragm. HP5+

This statue with a glowing halo transfixed me as I drove through

County Roscommon, Ireland. Falling light-levels required an exposure

of 1/30 @ f/1.7, which had a hidden benefit: the moon stayed circular.

If I had stopped down, the moon (at infinity, of course) would have

been so out of focus that it would have taken on the shape of the

aperture diaphragm. Thanks for looking - Sean.

Now, fellas, obviously that's the frame for the neon halo. I've seen incredibly tacky religious items here in the United States, but I wouldn't expect to see such a thing in Ireland. Somebody obviously thought it was a good idea at the time. Your capture of it, Sean, is terrific, however - I found your thread on RFF about Elmar vs Industar lenses, which led me to this image.

Mary here looks like a nice Irish lass, doesn't she? :)
