I'm certainly no expert, Derrald, but you have too much empty space for me. The sky on the right and all the area in shadow do not do much for this photo. The shadows are great, so perhaps a loner lens to capture the upper left of the scene. Regards.

First of all, I think that you did recognize a beautiful scene. Loving the badlands, I had to stop and look and enjoy. The colors used here are almost perfect opposites, adding to the drama and dynamics. There is also good overall tonal contrast, while the shadows in the foreground hold good detail. The frame is well divided. Since you asked for comments on ways to improve your photography, you might have looked for a way to create stronger linear elements in the foreground that would help draw the viewer in and create more unity in the image. The curves of the central hill do do this a bit. Obviously you were losing the light here quickly, but having time, you might have been able to find a stronger composition to convey this same idea-or not, just something to think about. In landscapes like this, the foreground serves to inform the viewer of what lies in those far off places and that is done well here. This is a pleasing photo as is and maybe the strongest of all your posted images, in my opinion.
