I personally like the picture regardless of the "name" given to it. An "angel" as I would prefer to look at her as.... if flying down could have a stray part of a garment brush down and lay across a branch.... that same would apply of there were large rocks there or tall grasses....

I also love the dead branch in the picture.... I like the visual contrast between life and death.

Definitely the mud stain makes the picture more real.

For anyone who is interested in facts, I would like to point out the following:

David made this photo, and all of his angel photos, as one of his own artistic projects. At no point were they commissioned by the creator of the wings, Nadine Dodd; she is also a very competent photographer (educated at the same school by the same professors) and after some deliberation, decided she could do a better job for her uses than David could. To be fair, there was a discussion at some point about a collaboration with her costumes, but this was never carried out, and there was never money involved, as the term "commission" implies.

David... please stick to the truth. And stop being so defensive when people offer critique. It makes you sound like a child, not the professional you claim to be.

-Emily [assistant, visible holding up the set in the set photo]

PS: David, I really don't care if you reply to this; the email address isn't one I check. See you in class.

This sounds kind of mean, emily.

I believe you and all, I have no reason not to, but still. It's like you're talking out of class or something.

It makes me wonder how come you are helping him then, and not now?

Emily, I noticed this response from David only after reading and responding to your comment:

>>Jeff,, LOL

sorry that was meant in total sarcasm.. i guess that's kind fo hard to read :-p

cheers<<

If I understand this, David is saying that the comment about the commission was a sarcastic response to other responses. And this was made way before your post.

What's going on. What happened between you two?

Guys get their feelings hurt too, ya know. Even very talented ones (maybe even more so).

I enjoy this photo. It is art. It tells a story, it pulls the viewers eye toward the subject. It teases the imagination. I like it. I could see this photo having been in OMNI magazine. Good work. I will look forward to seeing more of your work.

Nice topic, and wonderful subject; what would the photo look like if the image was inverted, and the water edge reshot?
