nelson_lee 0 Posted November 19, 2001 Does anyone know how to make the moon not flare like that? Your help is much appreciated. Comments, crits are welcomed! Link to comment
chris_werner 0 Posted November 19, 2001 Nelson, I won't swear that I'm right, but I think the pattern is the result of your stopping down to f22 and reflects the shape of the blades inside the lens. The pattern is somewhat reminscent of a distortion you'll see in photographs through reflecting telescopes of point light sources (which the moon here has in essence become through overexposure) and in those cases reflects the "spider" in the telescope that holds the secondary mirror. Assuming I'm correct, you will need to have the lens wide open and/or lessen the overexposure of the moon somehow. Chris Link to comment
paul_van_buren 0 Posted November 19, 2001 Wow! There's a place like this in Kingston? Very inviting. Its too obvious to name all the good things about this photo. Link to comment
dave_anderson3 0 Posted November 20, 2001 Subtle - very nice. The star effect on the moon is great. The light shining down on the bench works well, lining up under the moon. Nice color on the sky. Framing fits very well also. People are missing this one. :( Link to comment
Wayne Melia 6,041 Posted November 21, 2001 I like the "minimumalist" (?) nature of this. (which I think could have been enhanced by photoshoping out the lens flare, or whatever it's called, on LHS; unless purism prohibits) Evocative of Pete Turner's famous stuff. Link to comment
charles_jacobson 0 Posted November 22, 2001 the blues in this photo are stunning, so is the sun (or is it the moon?) Link to comment
raymond_liow 0 Posted November 22, 2001 Like the tone and the effect on the moon. Pity the flare on the right hand side though. Link to comment
stchan 0 Posted November 27, 2001 The bench and the moon are in just the right place. Wish there wasn't that little bit of flare on the left side though. Link to comment
