Oooh, I reeeaally like this one! The depth just pulls me in, and the blues are awesome. That touch of gold on the mountains is the crowning touch.

Thank you Kim. Bear Lake is drop dead gorgeous. But my experience is that its hard to get good shots early in the day. I only live 30 miles or so away from it and have tried repeatedly. Cloud cover almost always blocks the sun. At least it has for me. I was very pleased yesterday when the clouds moved out of the way for a few minutes.

There was such a huge variation in brightness levels I took two shots with a 2 stop difference in exposure and blended them together in photoshop. I am glad you liked the results. :)

That's a great trick that I have to try one of these days, taking 2 different exposures. This is so luscious!

You should. Blending two exposures in Photoshop beats the heck out of trying to use a filter to darken the sky. You can get you shots that would otherwise be a total loss.

This conversation makes me realize how little I've gotten out lately! I need to get some more travel in before I'm stuck for the winter....got to try out these photo tricks!

I can sympathize with you Kim. Time is the one commodity none of us have enough of. For most of the summer I haven't been able to get out nearly as much as I wanted to. There were days I literally ached to be out taking photos. I think its an addiction.

In any event we are coming into the best season of the year for photography. I hope you can capture a masterpiece or two.

I don't know about masterpiece, but I'd be happy just to get out and get some pretty ones. Unfortunately this season coming up is also my busiest one. I'll be up to my elbows skinning those lovely creatures we take pictures of.

Larry... I don't know how else to put it... but you make me love nature again! This makes me want to go out and see the world in its natural beauty! Just LOOK at that sky!!!

Thank you. I am gratified to know that.

There is nothing on earth better than being in a place like this at sunrise. Its absolutely amazing what a pick me up it gives both body and soul. :)

By the way I personally like the other Bear Lake photo I have posted better than this one. The rest of the viewing public seems not to agree however. Both were taken the same morning with the same lens (EF-S 10-22mm at 10mm).
