sony 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Tuff crowd here. You people don't cut a guy much slack. Let me know what you think about this one. Slash form GNR and Velvet Revolver Link to comment
goulden 0 Posted September 7, 2005 the photo.net crowd in general are very very tough on music photography, they do like their birds and naked women though. this is a classic of a shot, shame you can't see a tiny bit more of his face and that the lower part of his legs are so dark but minor grumbles aside, this is stunning music photography Link to comment
sony 0 Posted September 7, 2005 I guess I'll have to post a naked woman playing a guitar with a bird on her shoulder. :) Link to comment
mark_tso 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Generally I find this image very good, but as for me personally, It could be improved a bit by giving more space at the top.... Link to comment
sony 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Mark- More at the top... Interesting. Thanks for the thought. I don't feel the same, but it's nice to see it through others eyes. That is, after all, what we post them here for. It would be easy to add some to the top, but, in fact, I did remove some. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Best Link to comment
sony 0 Posted September 7, 2005 James- Thanks for typing a few words to tell me what you think. There is always things that could be improved. It's one of the tuff things about shooting available light at concerts. I don't think most people have an idea how tuff it can be to shoot concerts. On top of everything else we get 2-3 songs to get some good images. Link to comment
bill_kerner1 0 Posted September 8, 2005 well, i am sure slash has tattoos of naked women and birds, but as far as this image goes it is superb in my book 7/7. as someone already said shooting live music indoors is increadibly tough. 1. available light and 2. position. Generally you are much lower than the artists. this was pulled of the best it could. You probably could pull a little more detail out around his feet but, that is so minute. And to the first post.. Slash hardly ever shows his face..... that's his "thing". Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 9, 2005 To get the time to shoot on 2,3 songs first rank sounds relaxing. Good photo . Link to comment
bedwyrphoto1 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Great shoot and great black & white as your entire portfolio. What focal length did you use? I agree with you about the low ratings in concert photography here. I usually get better ratings in some of my landscape photos which I consider average than in the concert ones. I'm not saying that my concert photos are superb (I'm quite new on this and I have a lot to learn), but I can't understand some 3s I'm getting. Anyway I find the comments more helpful than the sometimes random ratings. Link to comment
tithira 0 Posted October 3, 2005 !!!! I have no idea what some others are going on about. This is awesome! What a mean-as poster this would make! The lighing and exposure is perfect; the pose is classic Slash; and the lens was a perfect choice to bring out the pure arrogance of his pose. You are really lucky to have got this shot. Good on ya! eppe 0 Posted November 7, 2006 Superb by far!!!! Never better! Amazing shot. No constructive comments to give. You`ve done it! Best regards, Espen Link to comment
floriophoto 0 Posted July 30, 2008 First, this is a brilliant shot. It's Slash and that's it ...no arms and partial bodies in the frame of another band member, nothing going on in the background that might distract the image. This is an isolated shot of Slash doing his thing and couldn't be better. This almost looks like it was a promo shot that was set up as the timing of this shot is great. More detail on the feet? More Head Space? It could be better if we could see his face a little more? My god, there's enough variables "as is" shooting concerts, and then throw in a guitarist who has his signature long hair that's often hanging in his face, there's nothing you can do to control that, so it's beyond me why someone would critque something about seeing his face better. Should the photographer wait to try and capture a moment where his hair isn't hanging in his face. And more head space? ..No ...there's enough here. It's a damn near perfect shot.
