Dramatic effect image. I would aim for a less centered approach but I am attracted by the colours and lighting.

Great motion. I love the tone and background. The lighting is very interesting. Agree on the center issue. Also intersting to see you use medium format to shot this.

Let me assure you, Kurt, that it is quite challenging using the 6x7 for this. A DSLR and VR lens would make it a snap. I think I should have about 2 weeks left before these fellows migrate for warmer climate. So, I am going to try a few more shots. Thanks for the visit and comment, and thank you, too, Sondra. Nice composition Walter. I like the soft blue colors seamlessly migrating throughout the picture, and the yellow accent.

Walter, I know it is tough and expensive. And might be that you are the only one... :)

Considering the beast (67) it's simply amazing what you achieved. No matter the compositional issues. When I think of all the difficulties of catching this one, I can not say a word against it... (a crop would make the composition better and still leave you with a 6x4.5 area equivalent, if that was the need...)

I love that you were able to capture such great detail in the wings that we all know were moving so rapidly. The lighting is good, too! The little bit of light on the right in the background makes the composition just right!

I am impressed by your ablity to get near this little fellow with the P67 - and with Velvia 50 film!

I agree with Amar about being less centered. Though, not an easy shot by any means, I like it. It's certainly above the 4/4 given

Considering the background and the subject--the somewhat centered approach works. The eye is not centered and to me this is the important placement. I think you could do a little burn on the head just below the eye to smooth the detail in shadow. I like how the wings blend into the background blue. Impressive work with 6x7.

Light is special , different, and gives another "flavor" of that( photographed a lot) bird.
