mlhostetter 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Please leave input if you feel the need to score this photo low. I would like to know what you think about the overall feel and color of this shot. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much, Marylou Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted August 30, 2005 A very fine capture! The colors are fine, and the shot is well cropped/composed. I've been trying to get this effect with hummingbirds, and can't quite get it right. What were your shooting mode, shutter speed, aperture, and iso? This would really help me with this tough little photographic subject. -s Link to comment
mlhostetter 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Hey thanks for the great comments. I really appreciate the kind words. Actually I caught this little sweetie shooting 1/250 with a 3.1 F. The trick to capturing the wings is due to the Flas, I simply used the on camera flash here and was about 5-6 feet away. Hope this helps... Thanks again~ ;> Marylou Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted August 30, 2005 I think my settings were about the same, and I also used flash to freeze the motion, but I still got a lot of ghost blur - maybe the ambient light was higher where I was shooting. -s Link to comment
mlhostetter 0 Posted August 30, 2005 I just checked out your portfolio and needless to say I was blown awway with your work. Awesome, awesome stuff. As to the ambient lighting, that could be the case, I forgot to mention that it was late afternoon beneath the shade trees.. If you like hummers and want to see some OMG stuff check out this site. I want to take one of his workshops. http://www.rpphoto.com/gallery/items.asp?GalleryID=humming Thanks again, I will be watching your work.. Marylou Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Thanks so much for the exchange of ideas & info. That's a great website. They give some technical information too, which is of great value. I'll have to spend more time studying the shots there. I will also check out your portfolio. -s Link to comment
