Exposure was 2 seconds at f22. Lee 0.9 Hard ND Grad filter aligned on horizon. Gitzo 1325/Acratech ball head. Levels adjusted in Ektaspace. I feel that this looks best viewed LARGER and Full Screen (F11). Thank you.

Lord knows...I could use it Vince! I saw the discussion on your last photograph with Dave, Jay, Ken, and the gang; the bottom line is that it just is not fun to post here anymore. And it's not just us; every now and then I get an email from a member who feels this same way. Most recently, one came from a long-time pro photog who studied with Ansel Adams and has bona fide photo credentials a mile long. He shared the same feelings of displeasure with not only posting photographs but also viewing them. For those of us who found it fun to look at photographs, the continuing flood of abuse in the Gallery is a real turn-off. This site is broken for good.

Jay: Thanks, I took this just east of downtown Cleveland. Regards.

I took some shots last night near Rock-n-Roll Hall of fame...the light was fabulous.

I totally agree with your comments on the site being borken. It is a shame.

Well we all seem to agree on two things here:

1) This is a very nice capture.

2) The site is broken.

Harmony at last...

Absolutely gorgeous, Walter. Wonderful perspective, colors, and detail. Personally, I would probably have cloned out the sailboat. Other than that, well done!

For a 2 second exposure you retained most of the detail in the waves. Love the texture. This says Ohio shoreline to me. The only nit pick I have is how blue the shadows in the water are, but I'd have a hard time removing them because the magenta versus blue is captured in the sky and water. Have to love the great lakes.

Walter, If the sailboat were not close to the orb of the sun it would possibly get lost or, worse, be a distraction. It is perfectly placed to share the center of interest space with the sun. Don't take it out. Not suggesting that you do so but this shot can stand on it's own even if cropped square (starting at the bottom). What is absolutely essential though, is the foreground rock with that fantastic highlight mimicking the sky colours. A win-win! Few sunset\sunrise photos are as gorgeous as what you have here. Best, LM.

Have to agree that this image is a standout in the field of sunset shots. It's your magic touch, Walter...
