mcgarity 0 Posted August 28, 2005 I ran into this guy back in January. I was out driving and I stopped to photograph a small herd of deer. It didn't take long before I stopped paying attention to the deer and started watching the horse. He was extremely aggitated about someting. I got the distinct impression it was a good idea to keep some distance between us. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 28, 2005 You've caught that mood of his in this photo! He looks just like a horse my grandfather had years ago. We called him Benny, short for "Hellbent"...this horse looks like he should have a name like that! Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted August 28, 2005 Hellbent is a name that would have fit this guy too. He was some kind of wound up. I remember thinking there is not going to be much left of that corral pretty soon the way he had been chewing on it. He reminds me of a young horse my dad owned when I was a kid. He knocked me down once and stepped right in the middle of my back. He had a bad habit of trying to bite and he got me more than once. Lord I hated that animal. He was just plain mean. Guest Guest Posted August 30, 2005 I hope you've encountered some nice horses too, along the way! They're still one of the prettiest animals. Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Thank you Sergio. I am glad you like it. Kim I grew up with horses (animals of all kinds really.) I got a lot of up close and personal exposure to them in my youth. My dad was always buying, selling, and trading them. Guess who got the privelege of feeding and caring for them? :) The one I mentioned was the only one I ever felt a passionate dislike for. And thats because I was convinced he was trying to kill me. Horses really are magnificent animals. I love photographing them. Less than a mile from where I live is a 50 acre pasture. From November thru February there are anywhere from 25 to 50 head that winter in it. Come March the owner moves them back up to the high country. This might actually move me to post a few images of them. Link to comment
