I love the way that the image pulls the eye down the walk. It's nice that it doesn't stop anywhere in particular. I wonder, though, why you didn't center the stairs in the frame like in some of the other IR images. Perhaps you were avoiding the dark tree to the right. The balance (or lack thereof?) is really the meat of the image, though, and I love the way it works. The dark sky on the left and the tree on the right really lend a sense of depth that couldn't have been achieved with a head-on shot, where I would look in and stop. I get the feeling that there's something more than the walk or the garden. It's all strangely rugged, uncertain, and eerily beautiful.

Thank you so much for your wonderful critique. I'm not sure exactly why I didn't center it on the path, however it might have been because I couldn't really go anywhere to the left or right without losing something I wanted in the shot... perhaps the sky in the back. You are correct when you talk about depth... I definitely wanted sky in there to add to it because often photos of trees and woods are so full of data that it's hard to see it as anything but a 2D image.
