giggles 0 Posted August 23, 2005 I love this and would love to know your technique so I could copy it:-) If you don't mind. The only critique I have is his hand being cropped off. I wish I could see all of it since you drew attention to it by placing it out of the box. This would work great for senior pictures too!!! Link to comment
jasonwilliamsphotography 0 Posted August 24, 2005 Emily, The cut off fingers was an accident, the background cloth blocked the view of the finger tips and this was the best shot I had to try this effect. Best of luck, and let me know when you post up your version of this effect. Best Wishes, Jason Here are the steps I used to create the effect of the hand popping out of the frame: Create a duplicate layer of original image. Create a new layer and put it between the 2 layers of the original image. I then flood fill the layer with the desired color. (I usually use white or black.) I do a select all and then do a contract selection, and do a delete. (you can adjust layer opacity to get desired effect) I create another layer above the this layer I flood fill it a contrasting color. (I ussually use black or white or a complimentary color) I then select all and then contract the selection the same as before and then delete. I then do a deselect and select all again and contract a smaller amount and delete. (you can adjust layer opacity to get desired effect) I then erase out what is needed on all layers except for the first layer. I created a script/macro to do all but the erasing step to save time in the future. Link to comment
