miles_danek1
I would like to replace my existing Bronica ETRSi screen with either Brightscreen or the Maxwell screens. Has anyone done any comparison between the two? My problem is focusing in dim lighjt. I also am wondering if the magnifiers offered by Brightscreen should be something to look into. Since these items are all rather expensive for trial and error experimentation, any advice will be greatly appreciated. TIAMiles
david_henderson
Don't know Brightscreen, but I can say that the Maxwell will be brighter and easier to focus with than a Beattie, and that they are both a lot brighter than Bronica's standard screens. They are very easy to fit. If you have a metered prism, you'll need to adjust -or have it adjusted - to compensate for the extra light passing into the prism via the brighter screen. djphoto
My experience is that the Britescreen is indeed bright, but lacking in contrast. The Maxwell screen provides both optimum brightness and optimum contrast.
scott_walton1
Either one are good. I personally have the Beattie, and as stated, the viewing is about 2.5 stops brighter. I do alot of weddings and as the night wears on the added brightness is very helpful.
albert_martinez
Hello Miles, Maxwell's about as good as it gets, their brighter and contrastier than the Brightscreens. Plus, Bill Maxwell was a pleasure doing business with, he's very knowledgeable, will custom make anything you could ever think of in terms of a focusing screen, and answers the phone himself,it's nice having the boss on the other end of the line. Nothing worse than a soft image because you missed the focus... Regards-Albert
