ISO difference between the 300D and the D70

Recommended Posts

Many reviews say the quality of the 300D is better, but only marginaly.

I got the 300D before the D70 was available and I still would have gotten it now because I have a lot of Canon glass. If I were starting on a new system, the D70 would probably be it.

Noise in the luminosity channel is one thing, but the spatial frequencies may vary, and chroma noise is ignored in those graphs. Look at the dpreview.com test images in the D70 review and notice that the characteristics of noise are quite different. Tightly linked to noise is ability reproduce detail, and the review shows this aspect as well towards the end of the review.

i can shoot low light indoors with no flash at 1600 with the D70 and it looks just like film=really nice. i cannot with the 300d. at higher ISO range, Canon noise becomes blotchy and looks very ugly.
