chris_chang1
I just recieved my Rolleiflex 2.8E in the mail, and noticed that the top blade/leaf has it's tip bent up. I looked on through the otherside, and it's the same on the back. Are these intentional? Or do i have a faulty camera? Thanks!
pavelp
Newer designs of leaf shutters have this done itentionally to prevent blades crashing into each other at high speeds. I do not know for sure if Rollei 2.8E is one of the cameras equipped with crashproof shutter blades, but if the shutter works just fine, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. h.d._shin1
My RZ lenses are just like that, and I asked the same question when I first saw them.
kelly_flanigan1
My Rolleiflex 2.8 E3 I bought used was like that; when I bought it from Franks camera about 1/4 century ago. Since it has not failed yet; it is down on my list of worries.
rajiv1
My RB lenses are similar. Check our MAC User forum. Somewhere, they mention that is a design feature. I'd guess Rollei leaf shutters may be intentionally bent too.
andy m.
It is normal/intentional. Don't worry.
mskovacs
My 2.8E type 1 also has a leaf slightly bent.
kornelius_j._fleischer
It is designed that way in order to avoid collisions. You can find more information on leaf shutter technology at www.zeiss.de/photo in the "tour of the factory" section.
john_philllips
All the R'flex 2.8 shutters I've seen have one leaf that's slightly bent at the tip for reason mentioned earlier. I've never seen this on 3.5 shutters.
