Polarizing filter for use with mamiya RZ67 Pro II

I intend to purchase a polarizing filter for my RZ, but having read

all the comments I am totally confused as to whether the filter

should be the linear one or not.

I use both the camera metering most of the time, but intend to invest

in seperate meter soon.

So which polariser should I use, and should I remove it for metering?

Practical assistance from experience could save me a lot of wasted

time and money. So thoughts please

Bob,

I currently use with stunning results a Mamiya linear polarizer, even on the 50 with no vignetting. Obviously brand isn't important, optical quality is.

In general terms, with a camera like ours, kind of polarization (linear vs. circular) is not an issue. Linear polarizers could be a problem under certain (quite uncommon) circumstancies with AF cameras.

I also have a RZ67. I have a linear polarising screen, which is slightly better than the circular at reducing reflections, the circular is slightly better than the linear at saturating colours. If your camera had autofocus you would have no choice, it would have to be a circular polariser, but as you don't, you can choose either. The price difference is huge, especially for a 77mm filter, so if I were you I would get the linear. Leave it on for metering, the camera meter will take it into account.
