r._nenil
In this age of guerilla marketing, I was just curious how many heretout BRANDED products and have a financial interest in the product(s)you talk about? This 'stealth marketing' is rather sneaky, andbecoming more common today. Would it be unreasonable to think that X percentage of people on thesewebsites are PAID for their 'opinions' of the products they talk about? what do you guys think? Personally I think that a corporations would stoop to any level togain consumer loyalty, a.k.a. money.
Jerry_
Gosh....should I get a 'Nikon' sweatshirt and ball cap to wear when I photograph a wedding? Then switch hats when I go from a roll of Kodak film to Fuji? A lot of time on your hands = you should go out and shoot some film.

bob_katz1
There are one or two individuals (at least) on photo.net that participate mainly for the purpose of promoting their products.

andrew robertson
I have a lot of money invested in gear. It's relatively easy to spot the astro turfers. They aren't usually promoting, however. They're attacking the competition.

michiel_bernhard
I'm being paid by an investment bank, altough I know about 70% of our investments by name I can't say for sure that I'm not being paid by a major company in the photographic field. If I would look into it I'm sure I (as a Canon shooter) am actually being paid by Nikon :)). Michiel, Holland
bob_katz1
"<i>What a tease. Who are they?</i>"<p> One of them works for HP Marketing, and often flogs his company's products here under the guise of "advice".<p> There was another person who worked for Kodak, but I haven't noticed any of his posts recently. I'm sure many long-time photo.netters know who they are.
robert_davis2
It's hard to call anybody that indentifies themselves and thier employer to be "stealth".
christian deichert
I think I've pretty consistently touted the following products on a regular basis here on PN: - Bogen/Manfrotto tripods- Kodak E100VS- Minolta scanners, spot meters, and manual focus cameras and lenses- Sunpak flashes- Mamiya TLRs- Lowepro bags- Maxwell Hi-Lux focusing screens Don't get a dime from any of them, not even coupons. I just use their proucts, like them very much, and want to pass this information on to other consumers. For what it's worth, I believe I have panned the following products and haven't been given a dime to do so, either: - HP scanners- Fuji Provia 100F- Vivitar lenses- Sigma lenses- Velbon tripods

john_n._wall
If anyone would like to pay me to use and tout Nikon, Fuji, Gitzo, and Epson, let me know. I'm not free but I'm reasonable.
