Digilux 2

Very brief time with camera; however, the biggest question for

me was the EVF and I must say it seems to be useable. In past I

owned and used Nikon CP5700, the EVF was useless in

outdoor normal lighting and indoors the smear was headache

producing.

The shutter release delay appears to be minnimal and the menu

easy to understand.

The truth is in the results and sadly I was not able to have the

camera long enough to create wonderful images...yet.

First impression...very interesting camera answering several

shooter needs.

Happy snaps,

Steven

There are some gorgeous Digilux 2 portraits there. Just look at the skin tones.

I've toyed with the Dlux 2, but didn't take any pictures. Smaller than expected, lighter

that expected, very sensible lay out, huge zoom (and very vulnerable front element,

which sits almost out of the front casing. You'll want a UV filter even before leaving

the store,) menus are visible in the VF (nice touch), fast shutter release, great LCD

screen, and even though I loathe electronic VFs this one is quite good, and offers

dioptric correction. And the whole camera falls very naturally in your hands, what with

all the manual

controls around the lens.

I think the camera is quite good apart from that electronic viewfinder. Trying to use the manual focus with it is next to impossible (Even when the enlarged central area is in focus you still cant tell, as the image is so dull, blobby and dotty (These are the only words I can think of to describe the viewfinder!)). I do however like the 2.5inch screen though, nice and large. The images it produces are good for a 5mp, but compared to the 8's that are appearing on the market for a lot less money, this camera has got very stiff competition, but then again it is also a niche product, a breath of fresh air amongst the other plastic, loadsa buttons and switches galore stuff that everyone else is making.
