ken_reither1
This is addressed to those who own or have actually tried out a Digilux-2: Can you focus easily and accurately with the EV finder on the Digilux-2?
jim_reed
Ken: For those of us who are used to M rangefinders, as you would expect, the EVF on the new D2 takes some getting used to. It's not "bad" -- just "different." In manual focus, there's a rectangular high-magnification square in the middle of the VF that pops up when you're focusing, and that helps, although that too takes a bit to get comfortable with. I've found it easier to manually focus if I clear the viewfinder area of all of the various other displays you can choose to put up (or not). That said, the D2's auto focus feature (with "lock on") seems to work quite well and generally avoids any real need to focus manually. I'm still wedded to my Leica M gear, but all-in-all the D2 is a nice piece of kit.
ken_reither1
Thanks Jim. When I first saw EV type finders (on Minolta and Nikon digitals), I was not at all impressed. The Digilux-2 sounds better. Hopefully someone in the Houston area will have a demo to look at one of these days.
