paul_kurian
I am using Elan 7 and Eos 10D body. I am going to buy 200mm 2.8L lens.I am always using tripod. Is it safe for this lens fixing to camera body without a tripod collar? The weight of lens is 780 gm. I am more worried in the case of Elan 7.Will this weight affect the mount of the camera. michiel_bernhard
I used a EF 200 L USM on a 500n (rebel G) without any problem what so ever.
borge_doskeland
No problem, but with an extender you will be more comfortable using the tripod collar.
mike_sazhin
The 200 2.8L is such a light lens. You can use it on any camera without any difficulty. I use the 35-350 L, which weighs 3+ Pounds, on my Elan 7e all the time. The 200 2.8 is a great lens and I highly recommend it. Unless you are using a 2x teleconverter on it you certainly will not need a tripod collar for it.
jim_mueller2
I have the first version, the 200/2.8 I with a built-in lens shade. These are great bargains if you can find a used one. I coupled a 2X TC II with this lens. The resulting photos are here in my portfolio. This is a small and compact lens with great handling qualities. Recently I bought a screw-on 72mm 500D close-up lens for macro work. I just can't praise this lens enough.
