The Canon G5 and Olympus C-5060 are the two I have in mind (still trying to decide which but the discussions in this forum sure help). The G5 is 499 at B&H (I suppose it's around that anywhere else), that's $760 canadian if you declare it at the border. I wouldn't... I did that countless time for tons of equipment. the_macman Posted March 28, 2004 Share Posted March 28, 2004 They asked if I had anything to declare. I said no. If they ever come to search my vehicle, they would charge me tax on the receipt price. Big deal. However, they have a lot of other things to care about than missed taxes on electronic goods, so I take my chances. Do the math yourself... even if you pay the customs taxes it comes a lot cheaper that buying locally in Canada anyway, which is why mail order from US is always a good deal. so_wong Posted March 28, 2004 Author Share Posted March 28, 2004 Canada custom does randomly check whatever you have with you when you enter Canada, if you can't prove if the item(s), especially if they are new, were bought in Canada, you might have to pay taxes.
