bino lee
Is there any difference between the BL version of 24mm with the silver nose and the black nose 24mm BL?

awahlster
Lindy I have a copy of the 1971 introduction to the F-1 booklet and the lenses shown in it are of course all chrome nose as were the first production FD mount lenses and it clearly states on the page introducing the new lenses that they have and I quote "Use of Super Spectral Coating, Multilayer anti-flection optical coatings and the adoption of Canons unique focusing mechanism have contributed to strenghtening the series of FD lenses. On this page is a photo of the 24mm f2.8 chrome nose. As well as the other FD lenses that were being or were to be marketed with the FD line. This booklet is dated 11/70. The only difference between the CN and Blk nose version of this lens is the color of the nose and that Canon as a marketing ploy added those little red letters to the retaining ring that say S.S.C. Hope this help you Bino Mark W.
14mm 2.8l
Shoot, I knew I shouldn't have sold the first edition of Intro To The F-1. Thanks! Lindy
grain
Marketing ploy or no, the s.s.c. designation is a desireable feature. I have this lens and it stands up very well to EFKE 25 in Microdol-X. Quite good resolving for a 24.
flavio_egoavil
Look at this page i've just created: http://flavio_egoavil.tripod.com/CanonFD/ See for yourself the sharpness of the FD lens, by looking at closeups of 13 Megapixel scans. Lenses tested: 200/2.8, 135/2.8, 24/2.
