colm boran

I'm considering buying a newer 80/2.8 C T* lens. This is the Bay 60 version, not the older Bay 50 version. When were these lenses built? What is the difference, especially optically, between the C and CF of this era?

Thanks!

keith_laban
Made between approximately 1994 and 1998 the "New C" is optically identical to the CF and was available as part of the 501C and 501CM kits.
www.keithlaban.co.uk
tariq_gibran
I think the only difference is that it can't be mounted on the F Bodies like the CF can. Tariq Tariq.com
jay_.
If you don't know don't speculate. It can be mounted on F-series and 200-series bodies and used just like any of the original C lenses, by setting the lens shutter to "B". The only difference with the CF is that the C's diaphragm won't open until you wind the camera.
tariq_gibran
To clarify(and address the rude tone above), The "new" C lens does not specifically have an F mode setting(which disables the shutter in the lens for the hasselblad bodies with built in shutters.) When used with the F series cameras, you would give up the advantage of the instant return mirror. Also, CF lenses have a button to lock shutter speed and aperture rings together(EV lock) which the "new" C lens lacks.
