s._misra
I would like to purchase a protective neoprene cover for the Canon 500/4 IS lens (the camouflage type). Are there any cheaper alternatives to the one shown here: http://www.birdsasart.com/accs.html#JRF ?
the_macman
Do you want it for protection, camouflage or both?
s._misra
for both.
yakim_peled1
You had no problems spending 5500$ on the lens but you get cheap for a 100$ cover ? I must be missing something.... Happy shooting , Yakim.
cham_saranasuriya
Yakim, May be he spent all his wealth on the lens!!!!!!!!!!! I to can't understand if someone spent thousands of dollars then trying to save a few dollars, if it is affecting, may be should not have purchased the lens first up!!!! s._misra
Maybe instead of asking if there exist 'cheaper' alternatives, I should have asked if there exist any alternatives to the neoprene covers provided in the link above?
perry_bain1
The cheapest option I can think of is some camo gaffer's tape: http://www.identi-tape.com/camo.htm Personally, I would go with the neoprene sleeves. $99 is not that much to spend on a $5000+ lens, and it would provide more protection against dents and dings. You can get similar product a different version/pattern from Leonard Lee Rue: http://www.rue.com/raincovers.html I can't comment on how well they work, as I don't have a 500/4.
