tony_brookes
The apaerture and speed dials on my Rolleir 2.8F have become stiff after approx one year without use. The camera has been kept in a dry place. Is there anything I can do myself to free them off a little. They both still turn but need hard pressure and effort. incitatus_rex
I wouldn't force anything, probably the lubricants are gummed or maybe some grit got in there. If you really want to open it up, repair manuals should be available at online stores like edromney, but it's a very good camera and quite complex inside so I would reconsider. The best option is a CLA from an experienced technician, should run you about $200 (from e.g., Oceanside camera).
tony_brookes
If this minor fault is not to be tackled by a raw amateur can someone kindly suggest a reliable UK repairer ?
godfrey
I can't help much with finding a UK Rollei repair specialist, but please take the effort! A Rollei 2.8F is a camera with many rather complex mechanical linkages inside and should not be touched by someone without experience. I've visited on several occasions to a couple of camera shops specializing in classic cameras right near the British Museum in London. I'm sure a call to any of them would surface whomever they use for repair work. Godfrey
jamespacker
I have heard good things about The Studio Workshop in London. They have moved from the Brunswick centre to: The Studio Workshop, 1k Leroy House, 436 Essex Road, Islington, N1 3QP. I took my rolleicord Vb in there today for a CLA and am looking forward to the results. I am told their technicians are ex-rollei.
martin_reekie
Totally agree with James! Contact Brian Mickleburgh or Dennis Banks at Studio Workshops. The phone number is 0870 443 7988. Be quick as they are finishing with Studio Workshops when they restructure at the end of April. I've used them over a number of years (and number of moves) to keep my SL66's on the road. They are then only place to go to get a Rollei repaired in the UK.
andy m.
Martin, I was just going to post a similar answer. I had a Rollei serviced there recently. <p>Not sure what what will happen after April. Those guys are very good with these cameras, helpful to talk to and very reasonably priced, especially compared with Leica service people. I hope we will still be able to have cameras seviced by them, but who knows?
tony_brookes
Thanks James and Martin - I have spoken with Brian and the Rollei is now with him. He doesn't seem too concerned about the stiffness in the wheels.
