Hi all,

I need your advice on choosing a back up body for my 6008i system, I

have three options which are 6001, 6003 pro or 6008 pro.Which one do

you think I would be better with? I could buy 6001 body new and

pretty much the same price with a used 6008 pro (body only) or 6003

pro but more money since they have 120 back already attached on the

body, it's just the 6008 pro is older version and they all used

(only their metering system is my consideration as they are the same

with 6008i). since I only shoot with 120 back and never cross in my

mind to use 220 (for now) so that's one of the reason 6003 is one of

my choice. Thanks for all users input on these Rollei model, have a

nice weekend!.

If you need a Handgrip and a self-timer, then 6001 is not the best option. I recently travelled with my 6001 instead of 6008i, simply because it is a bit slimmer, and it fits into my bag better. 6008i has

a bigger knob for shutter speed and grip. (I think there is a version of 6001 also which takes the grip. Is it called HG?).

I never have been able to rely on the 6008i meter -- at least not the one in my camera, as it could be out of tune. Since you are talking of a backup, what I like about 6001 is, that its controls are almost identical to 6008i. That helps! In any case you perhaps won't go wrong with any of the three cameras for a backup!

I'd go w/ the 6003 since it has the ligher-weight filmback that does not permit changing midroll. This can be an advantage if you're hiking (less weight). My back up is a second 6008i body (got it new for a great price at the time). The bonus is you get a second interchangeable filmback which normally costs $500+ new. Depending on the subject, I like to switch between neg film and transparency film. The 6003 has the brighter focusing screen and virtually the same features (spot, multi-meter) like the 6008i.
