Sanford
I was just reading about the new Voigtlander Digital M mount rangefinder on the Camera Quest site. Do anyone know the purpose of the wind lever on this camera?
andy_piper2
To cock the shutter between exposures...
Sanford
That thing really is retro.
ray .
Looks interesting. But how much battery power is saved by manual shutter advance? Seems it would be better with auto advance.
awahlster
Ray what would it be advancing? it's a digital camera open/close the shutter that's about it. to add a moter and the stuff assosiated with it just to cock the shutter would be complicated and take up valuable room. karen_nakamura
The focal plane shutter is all-manual and not electronically controlled. The wind lever is to cock the shutter. The rewind knob is apparently to review images on the LCD. Quite cute and innovative.
kelly_flanigan1
The level advances the pixels; which get tired; due to oversaturation of the Bokeh.
mike_elek
With talk about dust on the sensor on the digital forum, I would be concerned about the amount of dust that might be kicked up when the shutter slaps open and shut a hundred times or when lenses are changed frequently. I wonder how Cosina/Epson will address that.
dave_flanagan
Actually, I think the dual-shutter mechanism will go a long way towards preventing dust on the sensor. On a digital SLR, the only thing between the sensor and the outside world (when the lens is off) is the mirror-- certainly not a hermetic seal. The two shutters on the Bessa should prevent dust from getting in, even when changing lenses. An occasional Dust-Off of the outer shutter may also help. Additionally, since the Bessa shutters are metal and not cloth, I would anticipate less of a problem with dust from shutter curtain aging with the Bessa than with a digital M. just eric
I am also intrigued by the gas/card capacity gauge. Perhaps my first grade teacher was right about it. F= Fill it up and E= enough:>)
kievnut_den
Question: If the sensor is behind the shutter, the monitor is used to re-play only?
dougmiles
Absent definitive information, one assumes the LCD monitor is for reviewing exposures, examining the histograms, and to display various digital-related controls. Someone elsewhere suggested a removable LCD module, an attractive idea! Evidently, Cosina's intent here is to provide just what a lot of film-camera enthusasts have been asking for: A digital camera with a mostly-familiar analog user interface. May they prosper!
