jfm
Hello All, I have a questions about my 90 Elmar ltm. When adjusting the aperture ring, sometimes it rotates the focusing ring ever so slightly. I do realize on this lens that while focusing, to keep the aperture in its set position, the whole upper half of the barrel rotates. Is there an adjustment to 'loosen' the aperture ring ever so slightly from the focusing? Many thanks,Jeffrey
awahlster
Set the aperture first then focus and be glad it's not loose and easy to turn or you would be asking us how to get it to stay put. Mark W. Mines a bit looser then I would like
victor_cruz1
What Mark said. Just another Elmar design quirk, but easy enough to work around.
crackers_.
No, it's likely a matter of grit over time, assuming the ring is truly round. Don't take out the two screws in the ring. They simply engage a basket that actually moves the blades. Screw removal will allow the cage to move just enough to necessitate disassembly to fix. jfm
Thanks so much for your responses. Also, I have threads on the front. Is this a 34mm filter? I have a few of the wonderful a36's, but just curious if anyone actually used a screw-in filter. best, Jeffrey
jay_.
I'll check mine again but I think the threads are non-standard, just for the ring that holds the front element, otherwise I'd have gotten filters for it long ago. Those clamp-on A36's are another of Leica's obnoxious departures from sane engineering.
