david_haynes
I've been looking at software to reduce image noise in my G5 P&S at higher ISOs and have found that two recommended programs... Neat Image and Noise Ninja, will not work with Mac. Anyone have an alternative suggestion? Thanks,David Haynes

bobatkins
Free and cool maybe, but not yet ready for primetime. Documentation is thin, installation instructions non existant. I downloaded it but it won't run. It may well be looking for the Java engine. I run Java on my PC and several Java dependant programs work just fine. This one didn't ask where the Java engine was and there appears no way to tell it. Maybe it knows but it's crashing anyway.
eric_perlberg
David, I use Grain Surgery and am relatively pleased with it. There is a trade-off between reducing noise and keeping fine detail. I don't know from experience but expect that's in the nature of the beast. On some images I'm pleased with the results and on others I prefer the problem to the solution. Neat Image claim to have a native mac os x product in development.
maxz
<P>David,</P> <P>Have you checked out Michael Almonds <A HREF="http://www.michaelalmond.com/Articles/noise.htm">Noise Reduction Tool Comparison</A>? At the end of the article he recommends tools both for PC/Win and Mac.</P>
