Sanford
I just received some processed E6 slides where every one was WAY out of focus - no part of any frame is sharp! This is a famous name auto focus rangefinder with a lens just back from warrenty repair for leaving little oil deposits on the lens mount. I want to know if there is anything in the E6 processing process that could cause this before I send everything back. And, yes, I'm really sorry I got taken in by the $500.00 rebate and made this purchase.
peter_white2
No. The processing cannot put your images out of focus. It's the camera. PJW
peter_white2
Or, perhaps I should have written, it's the Contax. PJW
crackers_.
Beyond a little chemical excitement, your slides are the film. Get rid of the camera
Rob F.
Take it back and make them fix it; or make them take it back, and get a Leica! (Not that we're biased around here.)
douglas k.
Why pick on Contax? I've read plenty of posts about Leica M cameras that have failed, and some that were DOA right out of the box.
peter_white2
Who's picking on Contax? It's not hard to figure out that the camera in question is a Contax. But that's not picking on them. On the other hand, it's very easy to know if your M4 has a focusing problem. When focused on infinity, either something really far away is in focus in the viewfinder or it isn't. So you can easily know if there's a problem before you waste any film. PJW
jack_thistle
The only instance in which E-6 processed film can be unsharp from faulty processing is if the Reversal Bath chemistry is way off (and I mean way under concentrated, etc.). The images would also be rendered severly green in color caste, this is unlikely. Allot of folks arent aware that Ektachrome films undergo two development phases, the First development phase is a "density" only, black and white development if you will. The film is then briefly washed and undergoes a reversal process, then Color development takes place. I would say that the camera and or lens involved is the culprit in this situation. jay t.
Or perhaps the photographer is the problem?
